The base building was better and I had fewer nightmares. Some things I did like better in Below Zero. But if you can appreciate concepts even if the execution is lackluster and if you just want more Subnautica gameplay and/or worldbuilding, then it's certainly worth a dive. It's unfinished to some extent, the thrill of fighting for survival is very limited, and the land portion is really pretty lame compared to the underwater stuff. Its an amazing game but let’s be real, its hard as hell to make a game as good as the OG Subnautica. Being a snowflake myself, every moment I spent with the game was a mix of terror and fun. It’s enjoyable in a different form, as the horror aspects are more or less gone, not to say you won’t feel scared or alone, just nothing compared to the original. Subnautica was not intended to be a horror game in general, and so this game is much brighter and less scary. The game is definitely not as frightening as the first one, but it’s definitely more fun and full of content. Just think of this as a DLC since it’s not something as polished like it’s predecessor. If you enjoyed Subnautica then you will enjoy this game though.

It’s great but not quite as amazing as the original. It really makes you FEEL like the temperature is below zero. Subnautica had you experience the fear of the depths, Below zero has the beauty of the depths. It even has VR support for a more immersive billionaire experience. Subnautica is a beautiful game, but it has the unintended side effect of being terrifying.

Played it with a Logitech controller and with 3 of my rich buddies for full immersion.Īh yes, the Subnautica series… Adventure, lore, Look at AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!…….
